As a CEO, I’ve learned that even the best technology doesn’t matter if the team isn’t working well together. And when things get tough, which they often do, it’s the human side of our work that keeps us moving forward.
Soft Skills Make the Difference
When people talk about software development, they usually focus on technical skills: writing clean code, debugging, testing. But what I’ve seen over the years is that soft skills are just as critical—if not more.
For example:
- Communication:
One time, we lost an entire day of work because a task wasn’t explained clearly. A simple conversation fixed it, but it taught me how important it is to double-check that everyone understands their role.
- Empathy:
A developer on our team once admitted they were feeling overwhelmed. Instead of pushing harder, we rearranged some tasks and gave them space to breathe. They came back stronger and more motivated.
- Patience:
Whether it’s debugging code or mentoring a junior team member, patience makes a huge difference.
These things may seem small, but they’re what keep a team running smoothly.
The Heart of 7code
We’re not just writing code at 7code. We’re building something bigger—something that comes from all of us working together. The human side of software development isn’t just a nice idea; it’s what makes success possible.
If you’re a leader, a developer, or anyone working with a team, my advice is simple: focus on the people first. Everything else will follow.
This is what I’ve learned as CEO, and I’m still learning every day.
